The Trottier Constellation
The Euphrosine Foundation was founded by Claire Trottier in 2024, and exists as part of a broader network of entities in the Trottier family. We refer to this network as the “Trottier Constellation”, a nod to the family’s longstanding interest in space.
The organizations maintain close relationships and collaborate, while each having its own mission, values, governance structure, strategy, and decision-making processes.
The following entities are also part of the Trottier Constellation:
Matrox
The Trottier family’s wealth originates from Matrox, a technology company co-founded by Lorne Trottier in 1976. Based in Montréal’s West Island, Matrox is known for its innovations in video products and technologies.
Eclipx Family Office
The Eclipx Family Office supports the activities of the Trottier family. It also provides investment, administrative and operational support to the foundations within the Trottier Constellation. Eclipx does not make funding decisions on behalf of the foundations.
Trottier Family Foundation
Founded in 2000 by Lorne and Louise Trottier, the Trottier Family Foundation supports and partners with organizations that work towards an equitable and sustainable future by advancing scientific inquiry, promoting education, fostering better health, supporting affordable housing and migrant wellbeing, protecting the environment, and mitigating climate change.
Dents-de-Lion Foundation
Founded by Sylvie Trottier in 2024, the Dents-de-Lion Foundation supports initiatives related to fostering new economies, and to transforming the justice and carceral systems towards the dignity of all.
While there can occasionally be overlap between our areas of interest, each foundation in the Constellation has a distinct mission and funding mandate. As a result, the Euphrosine Foundation does not typically fund projects whose primary focus falls within the core areas of another foundation in the constellation. For example, Euphrosine does not fund climate-related projects or organizations as they fall within the ambit of the Trottier Family Foundation’s mandate. We encourage applicants to review the priorities of each foundation and to correspond directly with the foundation that is the best fit for their work.
