Our approach

Our approach to funding is rooted in a partnership mindset. We prioritize multi-year relationships and flexible support, directed toward the overall mission of organizations rather than individual projects.

The Foundation offers a range of grant types to match purpose with method. Each type is designed to balance responsiveness with strategic alignment, ensuring that resources strengthen democracy in diverse and durable ways. Exploration, project, and mission-based grants are available across all of the Foundation’s impact objectives.

--------

Mission

General operating support for organizations whose mission closely aligns with our theory of change. These grants are usually unrestricted to allow for stability and medium-term development.

  • $25,000–$100,000 per year, for up to three years

  • Application through online form

--------

Project

Project grants supporting collaborative initiatives that align with our theory of change.

  • Up to $150,000

  • Application through online form

--------

Exploration

Small, nimble grants to test emerging ideas or support early exploration related to our theory of change. These grants are suited to newer groups, fast-moving issues, and seeding collaborations.

  • Up to $25,000

  • Application through online form

--------

Capital Transfers

Large, transformative grants to community-led regrantors. The goal of these grants is to shift financial and decision-making power to communities that have been historically excluded from Canada’s democracy in order to support their active participation in public life.

  • Up to $750,000

  • No application. Chosen organizations are contacted directly by the Foundation

Please note:

  • Organizations may receive consecutive grants from the Euphrosine Foundation, but they may generally hold only one active grant at a time.

  • Renewal of funding is never guaranteed beyond the granting contract. In its grant-making, the Foundation seeks to balance long-term support for core partners, funding for emerging organizations, and project-based support for collaborative initiatives.

The Euphrosine Foundation is situated on the traditional territory of the Kanien’kehá:ka Nation—land that was occupied without cession or conquest. We believe that any effort to strengthen democracy in Canada must begin by confronting this truth and advancing Indigenous self-determination.
