The Foundation currently only funds qualified donees, such as registered charities and registered journalism organizations. Organizations or groups that are not qualified donees may still apply through a partnership with a qualified donee that acts as the applicant.
The Foundation cannot recommend a qualified donee. Any such partnerships must be developed independently by applicants, by looking for a qualified donee that has a mission that is aligned with the applicant’s.
Organizations looking for potential qualified donees may wish to consult the Canada Revenue Agency’s searchable list of charities and qualified donees.
At this time, the Foundation is not able to connect applicants with qualified donees or recommend specific organizations to act as funding intermediaries.

No. The Foundation does not fund individuals. Applications must be submitted by a qualified donee, such as registered charities or registered journalism organizations.
The Foundation primarily supports work connected to democratic participation and public life in Canada. Some initiatives with international components may still be considered where there is a clear connection to Canadian communities, institutions, or broader democratic impact.
